Gorelick Advocates Unified Economic Development
October 11, 2013 — A group of Region business leaders is urging Lake County to develop a unified effort to increase economic development.
The Lake County Advancement Committee met today to discuss the newly formed “Lake County Economic Alliance.” The alliance will focus on job retention and growth by creating a single point of contact for prospective businesses.
Currently, the County is home to more than twenty economic development groups which, some say, creates confusion for companies interested in locating in Northwest Indiana.
Board chairman Joel Gorelick says the group hopes to maximize Lake County’s unique resources while overcoming some of its challenges as well.
Gorelick says the next steps for the alliance will involve reaching out to Lake County communities for support and hiring an executive director who is familiar with economic development in Lake County.
