(AP) — Receiver Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns, who led the NFL is receiving yards last season, has been suspended for one year by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Playing in just 14 games last season, because of a two game drug related suspension; Gordon had 1,646 yards in receptions.

Gordon will have to apply for reinstatement following the season.

The 23-year-old had appealed his yearlong suspension for marijuana use and met with a league arbitrator in New York on Aug. 4. Arbitrator Harold Henderson upheld the suspension.

Gordon is not allowed to practice with the team, attend meetings or other club functions.

The loss is a major blow for an already questionable Cleveland offense.
