SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Game 3 of the National League Championship Series will take place this afternoon in San Francisco with the Giants and St. Louis tied at one in the best-of-seven series. John Lackey is scheduled to start for the Cards against Tim Hudson. Lackey has posted wins in his last three playoff series. Hudson is coming off a one run, 7 1-3 inning-outing against Washington in Game 2 of the NLDS.

Right now, the Cardinals plan to keep catcher Yadier Molina on their active roster for the series despite a strained left oblique muscle sustained in Game 2 on Sunday. He flew on the team charter to the Bay Area after leaving Busch Stadium for an MRI exam.

Manager Mike Matheny was encouraged Molina was able to throw Monday.
