March 25, 2014 — David Joyce, president and chief executive officer of GE Aviation, will join Indiana Governor Mike Pence tomorrow at the Purdue University Airport in West Lafayette for a major announcement. GE is expected to unveil plans for an aviation engine production facility near the Purdue campus. According to Inside Indiana Business, General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) Chief Executive Officer Jeffery Immelt hinted about the project during a National Governor’s Association meeting at Purdue University earlier this year. During a public conversation with Purdue University President Mitch Daniels, Immelt said GE likes building around “great, high-class universities.” Immelt also told Daniels that the company has traditionally hired more students from Purdue than any other university in the world.

More details about the plant are expected to be announced during tomorrow’s press conference.
