July 29, 2013 — Gary Police say they are investigating the city’s latest murder, the City’s 32nd homicide of 2013 and another casualty by gunfire.

Police Corporal Gabrielle King says 23-year-old Andre Pullen is the murder victim.

The Lake County Coroner’s record shows that Pullen was a black Gary resident at 3415 W. 21st Avenue, who died at Methodist Hospital Northlake where the coroner’s staff pronounced his death late Friday night.

King says that Gary police had responded at approximately 10:50pm Friday to 600 Grant Street for a gunshot victim, where a witness said they were at 1500 Chase Street when shots were fired. King says the witness reported that, “an unknown male subject approached their vehicle and told them to move the car then the unknown male began to fired shots at them.”

She says that’s when they drove to the emergency room where doctors pronounced Pullen dead as a result of being shot in the back. Corporal King says Detective James Nielsen is the lead investigator and can be reached at 219-881-7300 Ext. 3017.
