December 16, 2013 -- Gary Police are looking for suspects in the death of a 75-year-old man left beaten during the weekend.
Police say they responded Saturday at about 3:30 p.m. to a call in the 100 block of East 53rd Avenue where they entered the apartment of 75-year-old Zan Davenport and found him unresponsive and bloodied.
Davenport was pronounced dead at the scene, after his neighbors earlier that day had tried to contact him to move his vehicle so the apartment parking lot could be cleared of snow. Police report that’s when a neighbor was able the look through a window and observed Davenport slumped in a chair.
Police says that when authorities arrived and found no signs of life and no signs of forced entry, due to his injuries his death had been ruled a homicide, and the investigators in Davenport’s death are Detectives Lorenzo Davis and James Bond.
