August 19, 2013 — A Gary man is dead after he was struck and killed by a train at NIPSCO’s Michigan City generating plant.

Northwestern Indiana Commuter Transportation District Transit Police Chief Bob Byrd says 26-year-old Randall Williams was pronounced dead at the scene yesterday by Laporte County Coroner John Sullivan.

William’s body was found after a South Shore Freight train delivered its load of coal, dead from blunt force trauma.  Byrd says Williams could have ridden the train from Gary or could have been struck while trespassing at NIPSCO’s coal-unloading facility.
