Former Teacher “Guilty” Plea to Student Sex Charge
September 4, 2013 — A former Portage teacher has pleaded “guilty” to two felony counts of child solicitation.
Forty-four-year-old Bryan Tyman appeared in Porter County Court today to change his original plea of “not guilty” to “guilty” in exchange for having two of his four charges dismissed.
Tyman is a former Fegley Middle School teacher who was charged in January with one felony count of sexual misconduct with a minor, accused of having a sexual relationship with a fifteen-year-old former student.
Tyman also was facing three felony charges accusing him of sending explicit text messages to a group of girls between fourteen and sixteen years old.
Tyman is scheduled to be sentenced on November 13.
