First Transit Day in Fair’s 161 Years

August 7, 2013 — The 161st Lake County Fair has a new way to get some of its neighbors to the event today. The Gary Public Transportation Corporation, East Chicago Transit Service and North Township Dial-a-ride are collaborating to provide a low-cost lift to the fair.

The Lake County Fair Transit Day schedule:

The Transit Day north end pick-up and drop-off point for the Fair bus route is Griffith Plaza with the last trip leaving at 7:16 pm. East Chicago Transit will run regular service to Griffith Plaza with North Township shuttles running to the Plaza as well. GPTC runs the route from Griffith Plaza to the Lake County Fairgrounds, stopping at the County Government Center in Crown Point en route.

It leaves Griffith Plaza at 10 am, noon, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm.

Return trips from the Fairgrounds north to the Government Center and on to Griffith Plaza leave the Fair at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm.

The trip costs $1 each way.
