Fatalities Reported In I-65 Jasper County Crash
August 16, 2013 — Indiana State Police say at least two people died late last night in a crash on northbound I-65, north of State Road 10 in Jasper County. The accident caused traffic to be diverted from about 10 p-m until about 6:30 this morning.
The preliminary word from the scene is that a semi-trucker slowed down for an approaching work zone and a Jeep was right behind the semi-truck. An approaching semi-trucker then rear-ended the Jeep and pushed it into the back of the trailer ahead. The Jeep burst into flames, and the fire damaged the vehicle as well as parts of both semis.
Troopers observed at least two bodies in the wreckage at the crash scene. State Police spokesman Sergeant Tony Slocum says, at this time, neither alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to the fatal crash.
