Share Tweet Email

August 13, 2013 — LaPorte County Sheriff’s Police are warning residents about someone impersonating a LaPorte County animal control worker.

The Sheriff’s Office says a white male approached a resident in the 800 East block of County Road 700 North on Monday.

He warned the woman that she had 48-hours to comply with supposed enclosure standards for her livestock or the animals would be seized.

The man is described as being five-feet-nine-inches tall weighing about 180 pounds with very dark, possibly dyed, hair and driving a white unmarked van.

Sheriff’s Police say LaPorte County animal workers carry identification badges and drive clearly marked vehicles. Other similar incidents have been reported, and police say anyone experiencing a visit should call 9-1-1 immediately.
