EX-HOUSEROCKER – JOE GRUSHECKY – BRINGS HIS BLUE COLLAR SOUND TO THE LAKESHORE
This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with TOM LOUNGES” originally aired on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17th
Musical Guest: JOE GRUSHECKY (Ex-Iron City Houserockers Singer/Songwriter/Guitarsist)
JOE GRUSHECKY is a passionate, forty-year veteran of blue collar rock n’ roll who has worked and written with Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt, Ian Hunter and others over the years. “Midwest BEAT” host Tom Lounges first met Joe Grusheky over 30 years ago, when Lounges booked Joe’s early group The Iron City Houserockers to perform at POINTE EAST, a once popular South Side rock club in Lynwood, Illinois.
Over the years, Grushecky has continued rockin’, recordin’ and roamin’ across America. This hard playin’, hard workin’ American rocker calls in to chat on this program about his latest album, “Somewhere East of Eden,” and LAKESHORE Radio listeners had opportunities to call in to win copies of the CD.
“Somewhere East Of Eden” is a wonderful 12-song album filled with topical songs dealing with such subjects as America’s forgotten soldiers, it’s neglected kids, growing older, and the disappearing American Middle Class. Several of Joe’s new songs are featured in this program, including the title track, “When Castro Came Down From The Hills,” “Who Cares About Those Kids” and others.
