East Chicago “New Downtown” Meeting

Share Tweet Email

June 18, 2013 — The city of East Chicago is holding a meeting next Tuesday night to discuss the development of a “new downtown.”

The city is inviting local business owners to a “community vision session” to discuss improvement opportunities in its Main Street and Broadway Business districts. The June 25th meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at the East Chicago Marina.

Crews broke ground back in May on a large pipe lining project.  United Bridge Partners is also working to replace the former Cline Avenue Bridge with a new toll bridge at a cost of up to $250 million.  The city will get 10 cents of every paid toll…. but the cost of that toll hasn’t yet been announced.
