East Chicago City University Campus Focus Of Town-Hall Meetings
The city of East Chicago is looking for public comment on its plans to create a City University Campus at the former Eugene Field Elementary School. Mayor Anthony Copeland’s also reaching out to accredited colleges and universities to join in the project.
Copeland says four public town-hall meetings will be held this week to talk about the proposed Campus, potential degree offerings, and career and vocational training to be offered. The meetings begin today (4-8) at 5 p.m. at Heritage Hall… on Wednesday (4-10) at 5 p.m. in the city’s Roxanna neighborhood….. on Thursday (4-11) at 5 o’clock at Riley Park Recreational Center…. and on Friday, April 12th at 5 p.m. at the Field School building, the home of the proposed campus.
The mayor says this effort will tie into the East Chicago Waterfront Development Initiative and the North Harbor area.
