Soldiers’ Holiday Return Is Its Own Christmas Gift
December 19, 2013 — by Jerry Howard
A Christmas trip home for the holiday is its own gift for three soldiers and their families.
The Indiana Patriot Guard defied snowy weather last weekend and gave a proper welcome home to those soldiers returning from active duty in Afghanistan. Staff Sergeant Jason Fuoss of Wheatfield, Kyle Cassady of Hammond and David Berridge came home, escorted to the Wanatah American Legion post 403 Saturday.
Fuoss’ mom says this is his first Christmas at home in 14 years, which include three trips to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Specialist Kyle Cassady and Specialist David Berridge returned from their first deployment to the Middle East.
They were best friends in high school and joined the Army together, were assigned to different posts. They deployed separately, but they found each other and bunked together while on-duty overseas.
