Decision Today On Hanover Schools Superintendent

An official decision is expected late this afternoon on a new school superintendent in Cedar Lake.

The Hanover Community School Board of Trustees is to meet in special session beginning at 5 o’clock to formally vote on a contract for Tom Taylor.  Taylor and the board already have a verbal agreement and no one came to a public hearing last week to comment on the board’s choice.

Taylor’s proposed contract for the 2013-2014 school year includes a base salary of $114-thousand and nearly $45-thousand in benefits.

Taylor would take over for interim superintendent James Thorne, who is leaving to become a school district official in DuPage County next month.  Thorne and Richard Cook have been running the Hanover Community schools after former Superintendent Carol Kaiser resigned last December.
