Cozmanoff Mistrial in Meux Death Case

Share Tweet Email

June 25, 2013 — The trial of a Lakes of the Four Seasons man accused of running down four Lake County jail officers ended today before it began.

Lake County Superior Court Judge Salvador Vasquez declared a mistrial when he learned that a witness to the crash that killed 25-year-old Britney Meux was also part of the jury pool.

43-year-old Jason Cozmanoff has pleaded “not guilty” to reckless homicide, failure to stop after an accident resulting death, and failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, charges related to the 2012 incident near the Lake County Administration complex.

Although the witness told the court he had not talked to police Vasquez declared a mistrial so attorneys could interview him. Apparently at the time of the accident he was in a classroom in the County’s work release center, across the street from where the accident happened.

No date for a new trial was set.
