November 25, 2013 — Jury selection began Monday morning in Lake County Criminal Court, for the second trial of a 43-year-old Lakes of the Four Seasons man who is accused of striking and killing a Lake County jail officer and injuring three others with his vehicle.
Jason Cozmanoff is accused of the hit-and-run death of 25-year-old Britney Meux.
Criminal Court 1 Judge Salvador Vasquez declared a mistrial in Cozmanoff ‘s case this past June because one of the potential jurors said he may have actually seen the accident happen not far from the Lake County Jail on 93rd Avenue in Crown Point. Cozmanoff pleaded not-guilty to reckless homicide and two other charges.
If a jury is chosen by Wednesday evening, before the courts close for Thanksgiving, opening statements and testimony could begin the following Monday, December 2.
