Cousins injures right knee in Team USA practice
CHICAGO (AP) — DeMarcus Cousins has injured his right knee while practicing with the U.S. national team.
The Sacramento Kings center was hurt when he got tangled with Anthony Davis when both big men hit the floor going after a loose ball during a scrimmage toward the end of Thursday’s practice. Cousins had to be helped off the court.
Jerry Colangelo, the managing director of USA Basketball, says Cousins was going to have an MRI and probably wouldn’t play for the next couple of days.
It was the Americans’ first workout since Paul George broke his right leg in a gruesome injury that occurred during an intrasquad scrimmage on Aug. 1 in Las Vegas.
The U.S. hosts Brazil in an exhibition at the United Center on Saturday night.
