Could An Explosion Like The One In West Texas Happen In Northwest Indiana?

The explosion in West Texas brought to light the potential danger of storing common farming chemicals like anhydrous ammonia and ammonium nitrate. The Indiana State Chemist office monitors  more than a 400 facilities that store various amount of the chemical. The stockpiles are particularly high as farmers get ready to head back to the fields. The Lakeshore’s Steve Walsh talked to State Fertilizer Administrator Matt Pearson about the potential for a similar explosion.
