Colts Playoff Tickets Remain Available

December 31, 2013 – The Indianapolis Colts are headed to the NFL playoffs, but does Indianapolis have playoff fever?

It’s a relevant question this morning with the Colts still trying to unload some 7,000 tickets for Saturday’s AFC wildcard game at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs.

At issue now is whether the game will be sold out in time to lift the NFL-mandated local television blackout.

League rules dictate that teams must sell out games at least 72 hours prior to kickoff to ensure that the game can be shown on local television (defined as markets within 75 miles). Because Wednesday is a holiday, the NFL has extended the deadline, giving teams an extra day. For the Colts, the 48-hour mark is Thursday at 4:30.

The Colts, whose tickets start at $56, aren’t alone in this regard. The Cincinnati Bengals, who host a playoff game against the San Diego Chargers, reportedly had 10,000 tickets remaining as of Monday.
