The Gary Police Department is gearing up for a huge night of celebration in an effort to stop the wave of crime that has gripped the city.

Gary police are inviting all residents to attend the National Night Out Against Crime tomorrow between 6 and 9 pm.  The event is a neighborhood-wide party designed to encourage people to get involved in crime prevention activities in their own neighborhoods and is celebrated in thousands of cities across the country.

Gary police are encouraging residents turn on their porch lights and spend time getting to know their neighbors during the celebration.  Police and city officials will hold separate events at Pittman Square Park and Horace Mann Track featuring giveaways, games, movies, music, food, safety tips, child fingerprinting, a K-9 demonstration and more.  To learn more and get involved with the City of Gary National Night Out Against Crime, call 219-881-1302 or head to
