Child Support Guidelines Up For Review

May 12, 2014 — Indiana Public Broadcasting –The Indiana Supreme Court is asking for the public’s input as it reviews the guidelines for determining child support.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Brandon Smith reports:



Federal law requires Indiana to review its Child Support Guidelines every four years. And the committee leading that review wants public input on the protocols. Judicial officers use the Child Support Guidelines when determining the amount of child support to be paid in divorces, paternity cases and legal separations. The committee is inviting child and family advocacy groups, attorneys, members of the public and parents to a public hearing Friday to voice their suggestions. Indiana Supreme Court outreach coordinator Sarah Kidwell says the public can also submit comments online:


The Domestic Relations Committee will review all of those. They will draft some changes and revisions to the Child Support Guidelines. Once that draft document is created, that draft document will be posted online for more public comment.”


The final draft is then submitted to the Indiana Supreme Court for approval or further changes. People can submit comments online until May 27th.   The website is
