Chargers invade Denver
DENVER (AP) — The teams vying for the lead in the NFL’s AFC West are meeting tonight in Denver. The Broncos start the game with a record of 5-1 while the visiting Chargers are 5-2. Denver is of course led by record-breaking quarterback Peyton Manning while Philip Rivers is still in charge of the team from San Diego. Manning is the AFC’s top quarterback with a 113.0 passer rating while Rivers is second. Manning has a 19-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio while Rivers’ is 17-3.
The Broncos were held under 65 snaps just twice last season, both times by San Diego. On a Thursday night last year the Chargers shocked the Broncos 27-20 in Denver.
The game features the top tight ends in the NFL, Julius Thomas of the Broncos, who has nine TD catches, and Antonio Gates, who has seven.
