Thomas Frank claims the most profitable industries in human history – Big Steel and Big Oil – have decimated this region, turning cities such as Whiting, East Chicago and Gary into “industrial crime scenes.” Earlier this week, the environmental justice activist from East Chicago took Jerry on a “Toxic Tour” of his city and Frank’s startling figures, graphic images and keen insights confirmed beliefs about Northwest Indiana and its industrial legacy. On today’s show, we’ll chat with Thomas Frank about his views and his advice for the redevelopment of our region’s future.
Also, did you hear the one about a grocery store clerk who was scammed out of $500 by a flim-flam man? No, it didn’t happen decades ago. It happened last week and we’ll tell you how.

Plus, what is YOUR most embarrassing “Mondagreen” or song-lyric screw-up? Let us know! Until then, we’re going to play this week’s Mondagreen: “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor
