Casual Fridays – November 21st
Welcome to the Karen Walker Comedy Hour! (Just kidding. Jerry’s just running late.) It’s Casual Fridays!
Have you been “Facehooked”? Mental health professionals in this region and the country are seeing a spike in Facebook-related complaints, including self-esteem, privacy, peer pressure, emotional manipulation and more. Today, Jerry and Karen will talk with the author of the book Facehooked: How Facebook Affects our Emotions, Relationships and Lives, Susanna Flores, and she’ll explain just how much the so-called Facebook phenomenon affects us, often without us even knowing it.
And we chat with Chuck Hughes from the Gary Chamber of Commerce, who knows full well why outsiders won’t visit his city (unless it’s for a steady paycheck), and he also knows that city politics has been its biggest enemy. As the country waits for the grand Jury findings in Ferguson, Missouri, we’ll talk with Chuck about the big white elephant in OUR region.
Also, the infamous John Dillinger museum exhibit is getting moved from the South Shore Authority site in Hammond to the Old County Jail in Crown Point. Karen think it’s a great idea but Jerry thinks we’re too fixated on this exhibit and what it represents. We’ll hash it out later in the show.
Plus, the duo touches on the mounting rape allegations against Bill Cosby, the misconduct of the lakefront town Ogden Dunes, and new roadside welcome signs that Jerry created for most every community in Northwest Indiana.
