(AP) — There are 12 games being played this evening in the NHL. The defending Stanley Cup champion Kings are off to a good start with wins in six of their eight games. This evening the 6-1-1 Kings, who are unbeaten in six home games, are facing the Flyers in Philadelphia.

New Jersey seems to love playing on the road this season. The Devils are 4-1-0 away from home ice and tonight they are in Pittsburgh to face the Penguins. Like the Devils, the Pens have four wins on the season.

Two powerhouse teams from over the last few years are meeting tonight in Chicago. The Blackhawks, who stand in second place in the Central Division with 11 points, are playing host to Pacific leader Anaheim, which has 14.

Last season the Stars and Blues met five times with Dallas coming out on top in three of the games. Two of the five contests were decided in overtime.

The rest of the schedule has Minnesota at Boston, the Islanders at home to the Jets, Ottawa at Columbus, the Leafs are home to the Sabres, Arizona is playing at Tampa Bay, Colorado is entertaining San Jose, the Canadiens are at Calgary and the Canucks are home to the Hurricanes.
