Bourbonnais prepares to feed hungry Bears and fans
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) — Some bears are getting ready to roam the streets of Bourbonnais and businesses around town couldn’t be happier.
That’s because these are the Chicago Bears and they are coming this week for training camp — an annual event that attracts hungry players and hungry fans alike.
The Daily Journal in Kankakee reports that local restaurants are getting ready to cook a lot more meat and serve many more drinks during the camp that the Bears hold at Olivet Nazarene University.
But the community won’t be rolling out the welcome mat for those unlicensed operations that sell T-shirts and other items with NFL team logos on them. Village administrator Gregg Spathis says that officials will move in quickly to stop those entrepreneurs from doing business.
