Beatles 50th Anniversary
Story by: Sharon Jackson
2014 is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles coming to the U.S. for the first time. The boys landed at JFK Airport in New York on February 7, 1964 to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show.
To celebrate the anniversary, “Lakeshore Public Media” is hosting Beatles Tribute band “American English” at the Star Plaza Theatre on Friday, February 14th and proceeds benefit “Lakeshore Public Radio.”
The Lakeshore is marking the special anniversary in many ways including a conversation with, Ken Womack, he is the author of the Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles (2007), The Cambridge Companion to the Beatles (released in 2009) and his next Beatles-related work is…The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four.” That will be released this year in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ legendary appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.
