Bears miss playoffs for 6th time in 7 seasons

December 30, 2013 (AP) – Missing the playoffs for the sixth time in seven years, the Chicago Bears cleaned out their lockers Monday knowing plenty of them could be leaving Halas Hall for the last time.

With 27 unrestricted free agents and plenty of older, highly paid players among that list, it’s possible the offseason will bring great change.

Chief among the Bears free agents is quarterback Jay Cutler, who registered an 89.2 career passer rating.

The defensive side of the football, in particular, could be hit by change after a year when injuries led to the team allowing 5.3 yards per rush, worst in the NFL.
