August 13, 2014

This is our back to school Show. We’ll talk about some of the issues that are coming up as students come back to the classroom, everything from how to educate children, when your district doesn’t have deep pockets; to whether summer vacation outlasted its usefulness. We’ll have local superintendents Debra Howe of Tri-Creek and recently retired super. Jim Rice from River Forest.

We have a conversation on what makes a great teacher with Matthew Lynch, author of “The Call to Teach” and editor of The Edvocate, and Brett Bohstedt, teacher and author of piece in Education week on advice for teachers. We also hear from the Merrillville teacher who is just coming back to teaching.

Guests include:

Matthew Lynch, author of “The Call to Teach” and editor of The Edvocate

Brett Bohstedt, teacher and author of piece in Ed week on advice for teachers

Todd Bess, executive director of the state Principals’ Association

Dr. Jim Rice, retired superintendent of River Forest

Dr. Debra Howe, superintendent of Tri-Creek schools
