Andrean edges Brebeuf Jesuit for Class 3A title

November 29, 2013 (AP) – Donovan Chandler returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown with 1:11 left and Andrean held on as the Fighting 59ers edged Brebeuf Jesuit 35-27 in the Indiana Class 3A state high school football championship game Friday.

Matt Desomer threw for 137 yards and a touchdown for Andrean (15-0). Trevor Berg ran for 165 yards and two scores.

Aaron Banks threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns for the Braves (11-4), while Chandler Grau caught eight passes for 168 yards.

Brebeuf Jesuit had scored with 3:03 left in the third on a 34-yard pass, but the Braves missed the extra point and trailed 28-27.

After Chandler’s interception return in the closing minute or so, the Braves came up short with an incomplete pass into the end zone as time expired.
