Amtrak Train Stalled For Hours In LaPorte County
November 21, 2013 — (AP) — An Amtrak passenger train traveling from Chicago to the Detroit area was stopped for more than five hours Wednesday night in northern Indiana because of mechanical troubles.
Spokesman Steve Kulm says the locomotive for the “Wolverine” line started having trouble near the Michigan City station with about 110 passengers on board.
Kulm says the train’s passenger cars had power and heat while it waited for a replacement locomotive to arrive. The train resumed its route to Pontiac, Mich., with the new locomotive about 1 a.m.
