Alshon Jeffery Named To 1st Career Pro Bowl
January 9, 2014 – Thanks to his break-out season Alshon Jeffery has been named to the Pro Bowl, as a replacement for the injured Calvin Johnson.
Jeffery made himself known when he tallied 10 catches for 218 yards against the New Orlean Saints in October. Those 218 yards broke a 59 year Bears’ receiving record set by Harlon Hill in 1954. Jeffery went on to break his own record in December, when he caught 12 passes for 249 yards against the Minnesota Vikings.
Jeffery caught 89 passes for 1,421 yards, and 7 touchdowns. His 1,421 receiving yards led the team, and were good for 6th place in the NFL.
He joins teammates Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall. With Jeffery and Marshall both making the Pro Bowl, it marks the first time that two Bears receivers made the Pro Bowl.
Jeffery was a 2nd round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. He missed 6 weeks during his rookie season due to a broken hand.
