A streak must end tonight in Motown

(AP) — Something has to give tonight in Detroit as the Pistons entertain Portland. The Blazers come into the game riding a four-game winning streak with victories in 9 of their last 10 games. The Pistons are going in the opposite direction with losses in their last 12 outings.

It’s a similar situation in Salt Lake City as the visiting Spurs have won 9 of their last 10 games while the host Jazz have dropped 9 in a row.

Two first-place teams are squaring off tonight in Cleveland as the Cavaliers, who have won seven straight, entertain the Raptors. Toronto tops the Atlantic Division while the Cavs, who beat the Raptors in Toronto just a few days ago, lead the Central.

It’s been a tough start for the Knicks and first-year coach Derek Fisher. They have won just 4 of 22 games and are in the midst of an eight-game losing skid. Tonight the Knicks are on the road for a game with the Pelicans.

The rest of tonight’s schedule has Milwaukee playing at Oklahoma City, the Suns home to Miami, the Kings in L.A. to play the Lakers and Dallas at Memphis. With a win the Grizzlies would regain first place in the Southwest Division over idle Houston.
