A Casual Look at a Historic Court Decision
On today’s Casual Fridays, we explore Wednesday’s historic news of a federal judge striking down Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage, allowing gay couples to finally wed in this state. Many Northwest Indiana couples did just this, including Scott Fech and Rick Soria of Hammond, who’ve been together longer than most couples, gay or straight. But for how long until that ruling gets appealed by the state’s attorney general’s office? That’s the question, among others,to be addressed on today’s show.
We also will talk with Evan Wolfson, founder and president of Freedom to Marry, and also with Fech and Soria, among other gay Hoosiers who are personally involved in this battle for equality.
Also, we chat with Speros Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore Convention and
Visitors Authority, about the South Shore Air Show getting grounded this year after months in the making.
Plus, we revisit our new feature, the Region Festival Roundup, by chatting with two organizers of local festivals taking place this weekend.
