Sheriff’s Department Seeking Help for Horses

November 12, 2013 – The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is looking for foster care, or adoption, for two horses it recovered this month.

It says the horses were abandoned last week at 241st Avenue in Schneider near LaSalle State Fish and Wildlife Area.

The Sheriff’s Department says its Posse Unit has provided temporary shelter and care to the horses, which are safe, yet emaciated and in need of donations and foster care.

The Department invites inquiries about foster care and/or adoption, or about making donations to help in the care of the two horses, at:

It says the donations needed for these two horses are:
-Monetary donations for veterinary care
-Halters – various sizes
-Feed gift cards- * Leo’s feed & Garden * Crown Feed * Tractor Supply
-Wormer, brushes, buckets (for feed & water), feed scoops, and hay bags.
