Gary police search for suspects in group shooting
September 9, 2013 — Gary Police are looking for suspects for a shooting that left two men dead and five others wounded.
Police say eight friends decided to walk to another friend’s house when a vehicle pulled up and opened fire on them.
Police say the shooting happened Saturday morning at 3:45 a.m on the 9300 block of Sunrise Boulevard where 32-year-old Vincent Wainwright died on the scene.
Police say 18-year-old Dai Vaughn Pitts died at a hospital and the other gunshot victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The Gary Police Department Public Information Officer Cpl. Gabrielle King says, “I know that it’s a terrible tragedy, and I know that we would hope that people would be a little more patient with people. I don’t know what the situation was, but I know that sometimes people get angry. They arm themselves and then they go and do something, eventually they will end up regretting. Especially, if they get caught and have to spend a number of years of the rest of their lives in prison.”
Cpl. King is asking the public to come forward with any information about this crime, to the Gary Police Department at (219) 881-1210.
