July 17, 2013 — A Michigan City business is among 33 companies listed as one of Indiana’s “companies to watch.”

The Indiana Small Business Development Center released its sixth annual “Companies to Watch” list today, with companies in 14 Hoosier counties.

IEDC President Eric Doden says, “The entrepreneurial spirit soars in this year’s class of ‘Companies to Watch.’ With the spark of a great idea, the ingenuity to develop solutions and the determination to achieve greatness, these companies demonstrate what it takes to stand out in the marketplace. Because we offer a low-tax climate with a skilled workforce, companies of all sizes know that they can exercise a competitive advantage in Indiana, a state that works for business.”

The accolade by IEDC, the Indiana Small Business Development Center network and the Edward Lowe Foundation recognizes privately held Hoosier businesses with six to 150 full-time employees and $750,000 to $100-million in annual revenue or capital.

This year’s 33 ‘Companies to Watch’ were among 300 nominations for the award, including fields from biotech research and robotic part design to gourmet flavor manufacturing and automotive safety. IEDC says, “The chosen companies project to have combined revenues in excess of $422 million and create more than 345 new jobs this year. The revenue projections represent an increase of more than $218 million or 36 percent from 2012.”
