Gary Strangulation Brings Woman’s Arrest

July 15, 2013 — Gary police say a domestic incident left a man dead and his girlfriend under arrest.

Police say they arrested 41-year-old Santrina Echols for the strangulation death of her boyfriend after they responded to a call about a homicide in the 1400 block of West 16th Avenue at 8:25 a.m. Saturday.

When police arrived they found 37-year-old Clester Sims dead inside a home. The Lake County Coroner’s office ruled the death a homicide due to trauma to the neck.

The homicide is the sixth in eight days in Gary, and the city’s 28th in 2013.
