2012 Interview with County Surveyor George VanTil Denying Wrongdoing
UPDATE 5 17 13: The US Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana handed down public corruption charges against Lake County Surveyor George VanTil, including six counts of wire fraud and two counts of obstruction of justice. Federal officials believe VanTil used county employees and resources as part of his 2008 and 2012 re-election campaign. Among the allegations, VanTil paid an employee $100 to remove a hard drive from a county computer. US Attorney David Capp, quoting from the indictment, said VanTil told the unnamed employee he wanted the computer memory removed was “if one day the feds walked in and took our hard drive.”
Five term Lake County Surveyor George Van Til talks frankly about the election, charges from his opponent, Republican Eric Krieg, and the June 2012 FBI raid on his office, with Regionally Speaking Host Steve Walsh. It is a frank and at times combative interview from Oct 2 2012.
