Share Tweet Email

August 13, 2013 — The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is looking for Canadian coins on the loose, and they’re not counterfeit.

Lake County Sheriff John Buncich says they are real, and really valuable, platinum coins. His office said today that Lake County Police Detective Michelle Dvorscak was advised yesterday of the theft of 124 one-ounce platinum Canadian Maple Leaf coins.

The Sheriff says they were taken from a Crown Point residence. He’s asking anyone who has seen them to contact Lake County Police at 219-755-3334. They have information about a reward of $10,000 for the return of the coins or information leading to arrest and conviction of individuals involved in the theft.
